The fires in California and the devastation of so many houses has been weighing heavy on my heart this week. I can’t imagine what so many families are going through this week and I know many of us are looking for ways to help. Two pod guests Brittany Sheehan and Emily Landers are collecting donations for people in and around their communities, Manhattan Beach and Malibu respectively. You can follow them on Instagram and learn more. This article from The LA Times also shares a number of organizations supporting the victims of these fires.

I love the start of a New Year - hate New Years Eve as an event - but love the idea of getting things in order for the year ahead. This year, I spent the break between Christmas and New Years sending the kids to school/camp, cleaning out my attic and cleaning out all of the kids toys. It felt so good to donate so much, I actually feel a weight has been lifted. I shared how we did the toys last year, and we did something similar this year.
Then this week was back to the grind, and chaotic in some of the best and most promising ways! I am not feeling the January’s yet - so maybe the the trick is just have a very scheduled January.
Alright, while not exactly Five Faves, hopefully you’ll find this a fun look back at the past year - thoughts on some memorable moments, a bit of accounting, and a thank you and giveaway.
2024 in Review
Let’s look back on 2024 for a minute, shall we? There were so many fun conversations, amazing women, and lasting takeaways.
In 2024, we had 51 full episodes with guests from all across the US, and then Scotland and Portugal. We had 11 Founders, 4 Authors, 8 Substack Writers, a CEO, a CCO, 2 COOs, multiple VPs, 4 Interior Designers, 3 Episodes with Two Guests, and so so much more!
I could tell you something fun that sticks out to me from every single episode, but these are some little bits that I’ve incorporated into my every day.
High, Low, Buffalo - Carly mentioned this, that she learned from Jess, and that actually was the impetus to get Jess on the show!
Clean Skin Club - Julia mentioned these in her episode, and she’s RIGHT. They are so good. Also shout out to Julia for recommending the most guests for the podcast!
Future App - Sarah turned me on to this app that pairs you with a real human personal trainer. I have been using it consistently since and feel myself getting stronger and find myself not dreading the workouts.
Hiring a House Managers - Kelly and Jennifer both shared their experience with hiring house managers, and influenced me to do the same. It’s been one of the best things we’ve done for our family.
Planning Menu by Theme - Hitha shared this, but we’ve been picking a theme each night (Italian, Mexican, etc) and then mixing and matching our favorite meals.
I’d love to hear in the chat what you’ve learned this year and what’s stuck out to you?
Accounting
I’ve promised this before because I’ve always appreciated transparency when it comes to things like affiliate links etc. Below is a state of the state of the Podcast Accounting. Hosting, producing, editing the podcast costs money - a not-insignificant amount per year. Your support of the newsletter and using affiliate links helps to offset that cost, and this year, we’re in the positive (!) for the first time! Thank you!

Descript - Podcast Editing - $345
Buzzsprout - Podcast Hosting - $314

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You
I am so grateful for all of the support I’ve received from this community, and from listeners in the past year. This fall I asked you all to leave reviews on Podcasts and Spotify, and you all showed up! THANK YOU. I promised to give away some fun goodies, and I worked with Bobinette to custom embroider the pod logo onto my favorite LL Bean long handled Large tote. I take my large totes everywhere with me, and know you’ll love them too!
I used the google random number generator to choose three reviews on Podcasts, and their handles are below! If this is you, please email me at adayinherlifepod@gmail.com!! I will share on Instagram too!

More A Day In Her Life:
ICYMI - This week’s episode of A Day In Her Life with Frenchie Ferenczi was a great start to the new year! Frenchie is a business and growth strategist and advisor and we talk about entering her multi hyphenate era, how she prioritizes time for herself, and ways she and her husband make time despite different schedules. This was a fun conversation!
One Year Ago - A Day In Her Life with Meredith Cooney! Meredith worked in finance and also is a financial content creation. We talked about buying a home and what’s been surprising about the process.
I mention this a bit in the episode with Emily, but a friend and I are building something fun and new! If you love to read, can you a second to fill out this quick survey?!?
