Hello! I took a mini break last week due to the holiday, and glad to be back. There were some high highs - watching my son see fireworks for the first time, a good beach day, some fun tennis clinic action, and a great Fourth of July at Camp C - and some not-so-high highs - like food poisoning. Instagram never feels more like a highlight reel to me than over a holiday weekend, but we had a great weekend and I am sad that it feels like summer is half over.
This week’s favorites have no theme, other than things I have been loving this week. Not listed but also taking my brain space, The Bear Season 3 - This season was not what I expected or wanted when it started, but we just finished the finale and I’ve LOVED it. The music was so good, the chef cameos were staggering, the hero’s journey was complicated, and symmetrical, the ending left me wishing season 4 was available now. If you haven’t watched The Bear yet, I would absolutely recommend going through the back episodes.
Five Friday Favorites:
Brooks Walking Shoes - This was a rec from
and I have been loving them. They feel better than my Hokas and I like the look a bit more too.Straw Bag - I bought this earlier this summer, and it’s been a really handy bag. I’ve been leaving it full of snacks, potty things and extra underwear, and it’s been on hand all the time wherever we go. It looks good, and it can fit a ton of things. And as with most kids with things, it’s not too precious.
Non-Alcoholic Drink Options - We’ve been trying to not drink during the week, and I tried this near beer from Best Day Brewing Electro-Lime this week, and it’s actually awesome. It tastes precisely like what you want to drink outside in the heat, minus the alcohol. We’ve also been loving Curious Elixers, and I love the Spicy Margarita and the Spritz version.
Soft Services Bar - My sister gave me this for Christmas one year, and I still use them. It has really helped the bumps on the back of my arms and tops of my thighs (keratosis pilaris). I know I am not alone in this struggle, and these are amazing. I’m considering getting their lotion too because I am in the market for a new body lotion.
The Olympics Lead Up - I am a huge fan of the Olympics. One of my favorite memories of living in Madison is from when my girlfriends and I took a day off to watch the Olympics one summer and we lounged, ate BLTs, drank Rose, and had a blast. My husband and I have been watching a lot of the qualifiers, and I watch in awe at the amazing athleticism and think about how much must have gone into getting to that point, and how proud their parents must be. I’ve been loving a lot of the Vintage Olympics apparel and I got a few great Ts from Abercrombie that have been in heavy rotation.
Your favorite thing from last week - The WonderStain
What’s for Dinner
So this week, I went to my local grocery store rather than the Whole Foods, and the cost of the groceries was outlandish, especially given much of the meals I planned were from the freezer. I was floored. I don’t relish ordering groceries because I prefer to pick my produce, but sometimes it’s got to be done. I just learned today, that you can subscribe to Amazon Fresh/Whole Foods deliveries for $10/mo instead of paying per delivery, and right now you get 90 days free for signing up. I signed up because since delivery is now $10, using at least once per month will negate the cost of this subscription.
Sunday - Burgers and Tots
Monday - Chicken and Rice - We tried a Spanish rice mix and liked it with the marinated chicken we got from the store
Tuesday - Leftover Pizza - We always freeze pizza and some nights, it’s a great option to grab in the freezer and heat up in a hot oven quickly.
Wednesday - Out at Friends
Thursday - Date Night
Friday - Honey Chipotle Tacos - As requested by my son.
