I am a summer person. I live for the longer, slower, warmer, sandier days in the summer, but I always feel a tad melancholic around Memorial Day. I know how quickly this time of the year will pass, I can already feel Labor Day creeping in and know summer will fly by.
This year, at the end of the summer, my big kid will be starting kindergarten. He is SO ready, and I know this will be a huge transition for our whole family, not just him, and the looming change is making me dread the start of summer because of what’s next.
Two things can be true: I can be so excited for the summer, and sad that it’s going to end, and feel far faster than I want it to. I can also enjoy it and focus less on the coming change. I’m trying on my “just go with it”-self and embracing more sun, later bedtimes, making time for what we want to do, and letting go of the rest. We’ll see how it goes…
Five Friday Favorites:
Bridgerton - I know everyone is talking about the show, and it’s so so good. Shonda Rhimes does it right. I love the representation that is a hallmark of her production, and the costumes, the hair, CHEF’s KISS. I was dying laughing in the second episode. I am also listening to the book right now, and loving it. It’s fun seeing the similarities and differences in parallel.
Sorette - This is a brilliant concept of a store that only has strongly vetted and highly curated pregnancy-safe items, founded by a local mom and friend of my sister. Sorette launched last week and I bought some of this Outset Exfoliating Caffeine Micropolish and Kinfield Sunglow. Everything came quickly, and I am so excited for this to be my go-to shop for safe and clean products. Use this link to shop and get 15% off your order! So excited to see what’s to come from Sorette!
Hill House Cosima Jersey Dress - I have this dress in the blue stripe from last season, and it is one of my go-to dresses. I went for the black jersey variety in Hill House Summer Drop because I knew it would be a workhorse. I wore it this week and my son told me I “should wear it more often because I look beautiful” and I “would look a lot better if wore it more.” So trust my kid.
Pipette Sunscreen - I love this sunscreen for our family - it’s 20% zinc, rubs in very easily, and doesn’t leave a white cast. This is our current go-to sunscreen and I’ve been restocking it as we head into the summer.
Amazon Sunglasses - I am not kind to my sunglasses. I have never been, and I also lose sunglasses like it’s my job. I need polarized lenses and I found these and loved them. They’re durable, haven’t stretched out much (a big pain point for me) and I love the different shape. There are some things I am willing to splurge on, but sunglasses aren’t it for me.
What’s for Dinner
Sunday - Skinny Taste Skinny Chicken Parm - This was hit with our kids and it’s an easy Sunday meal that makes you feel like you’re getting a lot more.
Monday - Whole Foods Marinated Chicken with Bagged Salad - Whole Foods has been crushing it with Marinated Meats recently. I know there are a lot of similar options at other grocery stores, and we started this week with a Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Thighs with a Southern BBQ Salad bag. This might be our new combo for weeknight dinner success.
Tuesday - Leftover Pulled Pork and Beans - Leftover from a few weeks ago when we froze it, so made some sandwiches and had the beans on the side.
Wednesday - Brats and Tots - I wolfed a Smoked Jalapeno and Cheddar Brat down before Tennis, and it was so good. I love a spicy mustard on my brat.
Thursday - Salmon and Bagged Salad - Repeat from last week! We loved it.
Friday - Pizza Night

My kid is also going to start Kindergarten in the fall and she's readier than I am LOL. I'm prepared to bawl my eyes out on her pre K graduation next week.
