Greetings friends - I just got back from a week in London and Paris with my mom and my sister! It’s the first time I’ve left this kids for this long, and I was so grateful my husband and my in-laws held it down at home, with lots of help from our village. My sister had never visited London and I’d never been to Paris, and we had an incredible time visiting both cities! Happy to share more about our itinerary!
I packed for the whole trip in my trusty Bigger Carry-On by Away and while I tend towards overpacking, was proud that I was able to fit everything in the carry-on and I wore almost everything I packed on the trip! I also used my largest size Away packing cube for all of my clothes, and a smaller one for undies, socks, and PJs. Below is everything I brought to wear on this trip and how I wore it. I’m no fashion expert, but I’m always curious how people actually pack for long trips in carry-ons so hope this is helpful to someone.
The Weather was warmer than anticipated - London ~70s/50s at night Paris 80s/60s. I wish I’d brought some more clothes for warmer weather (specifically for Paris) but that’s my only regret in the packing department.
Dresses - I wanted to
have some dresses that could go from tourising to dinner/drinks. I brought these three dresses and they held up well. I wish I’d brought a shorter dress, for the warmer weather but was pleased with these. Uniqlo Ultra Stretch Dress, Hill House Louisa (in Black but this is the current color way), Hill House Cosima in Black Jersey. During the day I wore with Sneaks and with ballet flats at evening.
T-Shirts - After my recent t-shirt quest, these are some of my favorites. I wanted to bring some options to wear with jeans. I brought two of the Gap Organic Cotton Ts in White and Black and the Uniqlo White T.
Blouses - I brought a few nicer shirt options to take pants into the evening or be a flowier option for walking around. I love this new Evereve shirt I got in Phoenix because it’s structured but not too tight. I also love this Doen one - I have it in a black pattern that I adore, it’s so versatile. I also got this similar shirt from Gap that’s much more budget friendly (sold out this one is similar). I also brought my trusty AYR button down. I wore all of these in different variations with all of the pants I brought. I only wore my button down once and didn’t wear the Evereve shirt because the day I was planning to wear it was way too hot.
Pants - I wish I’d brought a pair of shorts instead of two pairs of jeans, but these were all workhorses. Mother Jeans, Paige Jeans, Blue Old Navy Kick Flares (similar), and the soft Barrel Leg Jeans that Devan and Lucie convinced me I needed. They were perfect for travel between London and Paris and I wore them home.
For Travel - I wore this Heavy Weight (Top, Bottom) set for travel and it was VERY comfortable.
Shoes - We walked ~15-20k steps per day, so comfy shoes were essential. I love love these Loafers and wore them a lot in the evenings for longer walks to dinner, but during the day mostly wore these Sneakers, and Ballet Flats were for dinners or shorter walks.
Jackets - I brought a thin jacket for days when I needed some warmth and I also brought the leather jacket I bought in Amsterdam ~10 years ago (similar). I didn’t wear a jacket at all in Paris.
Bags - Aside from the bags I brought to travel with, I brought this crossbody bag I got when we went to Disney and the Milo purse (in blue) I got last year from Sezane - I’m obsessed with the red now. They both are deceptively large when it comes to carrying all of the things for the day. I ended up buying a new strap for my crossbody because they were everywhere in Paris!
Now every single thing I brought is in the wash or in line for the dry cleaners. And I’m terrible at actually taking outfit pics, but here ya go.
