A few weeks ago, when I saw
was hosting a panel at MM LaFleur with Jeanelle Teves and Catherine Brown, I immediately reserved a spot. I didn’t really think through the logistics, just that looking at my calendar (and a gut check with my husband), we could make it work. Flash forward to this week when I felt pretty anxious about going and guilty about doing something for myself. But I got in the car yesterday, and I am SO glad I did. My cup has been FILLED. Perhaps overfilled (if that’s a thing) connecting with past pod guests, future guests, and other women who were at MM LaFleur to listen to an incredible panel about juggling motherhood, careers, and creation. The evening was truly SO AMAZING, and I am feeling so inspired. I have much more to share, but at the moment, I am just SO grateful that I did this for myself, even though I do feel extra guilty about leaving the state with my son’s “Sweetie” (something he hasn’t slept without in probably over a year). Oooops.
Five Friday Favorites:
Carpet shoes - I wear these shoes all the time, and when I shared a recent photo and I got several messages asking about them. These are my absolute favorite loafers, and have worn in so well. I also have a pair of their slides that are so fun.
Demon Copperhead - I re-read this book for my local bookclub, and I might have loved it more than the first time I read it. It’s a sweeping story of a boy growing up in Appalachia, its heartbreaking and witty. If you haven’t yet, put it on your list, and the audio book is incredible!
Pearl Headband - I have been wearing this headband a lot recently, especially when my hair is dirty. My husband commented on how much he liked it this week, and it made me smile. This headband makes me feel put together and look like a functioning human even though I haven’t showered, and any thing that can make that happen is good by me.
Clear Pouch - I love my Cuyana travel cases for makeup and cosmetics, but after many years, I realized they aren’t the most space-effective and I couldn’t keep my bottles upright, so when we went to Jamaica I ordered a 3-pack of these and I have been loving them.
- recommended this in her episode, and a neighbor offered one up, and I am loving it. Having the light when waking up has been nice, and I like listening to some of the music before bed.
What’s for Dinner
This week was more cooking-focused, but still really reasonable grocery-wise. I tried for recipes I know the kids like and we had a lot of leftovers.
Sunday - Beef Bourgignon - My kids LOVE Beef Bourgignon, and we didn’t have it all last year. I froze 2 additional meals.
Monday - Mexican Chicken and Rice - Easy and a recipe the whole family will eat.
Tuesday - Hamburgers - My son has been requesting burgers for a few weeks, but now that it’s light at night, I’m willing to grill.
Wednesday - Ginger Pineapple Pork - This is a super quick recipe, and the kids devoured it. I went light on the Red Curry Paste. This made a lot of leftovers.
Thursday - Brats and Tots - I’m out but this is what my kids ate with my husband
Friday - Pizza Night
