Hi, and Welcome to some new friends and friends who’ve been here a while! As a reminder, I’m Ellie, a working mom in the Boston area. I also have a podcast where I ask women about their days, and I’m the co-founder of Pepper Books with my friend Anna! I love sending handwritten notes, knitting, needlepointing, cooking, and reading.
Each week in this newsletter, I share some things that I am loving (hint they’re usually very random), some thoughts, recent episodes, fun things guests are doing, and what I’m cooking for my family. Thanks for being here!
Duckbill.ai - In collaboration with Mighty As A Mother, the Duckbill team was kind enough to let us test out their platform before chatting with Meghan Joyce (this week’s guest, see below, and last week’s guest on Mighty As A Mother), and I am a raving fan. Duckbill is an AI-based personal assistant with human co-pilots. This week alone, I asked them to schedule Washing Machine Maintenance, a Dermatology appointment, help me find an intern, and help me create a menu for a dinner I’m hosting. They were kind enough to give us a code (ELLIE50) for 50% off and priority off the waitlist!
Boden Spring Stuff - These clogs held up my brainspace through much of my no-shop Jan, and as soon as it was over, I decided if they’d been in my mind for that long, I needed them. My logic is sound. I also obviously shopped all of the adorable stuff they have for kids, and my daughter might be seen in this, this, or this soon. I wish my budget would allow for a LOT of the spring collection!
Frownies - I was reminded of these recently when chatting with Bailey, and realized I needed to give them a chance again. They make me look very refreshed the next morning, though I do find them somewhat difficult to get off in the morning. I infrequently get Botox, but have been toying with whether or not this is something I want to keep doing in the long run. We’ll see, but I like these a lot.
has been raving about this for a while, and I got this before Christmas and I’ve been loving it. I am someone who NEVER remembers to put on lotion after getting out of the shower, and in the winter I’m usually dry and scratchy. I like that I can do this in the shower and then hop out ready to go. Definitely recommend.Crown Affair Leave In Conditioner - This was a (kind of) repurchase for me, because I purchased it for my daughter. I love this product and I’ve been using this for my daughter after her shower and she thinks this “magic cream” helps her hair not get knotty. If you have a kid who’s hair is a struggle to brush, I feel you. This helps us, and we use this brush - of note, she has very straight and fine hair. And since I was buying the Leave In Conditioner, I decided to finally try the dry shampoo, and repurchase the Air Dry Mousse because I ran out and it’s a desert island product for me. I’ll wax more poetic about it another time but 10/10.
What’s for Dinner
Monday - Leftover Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes
Tuesday - Chicken and Udon Noodles with Peanut Sauce - Store-bought sauce
Wednesday - Brats
Thursday - Peanutty Pork and Brussel Sprouts
More A Day In Her Life:
ICYMI - This week’s episode of A Day In Her Life with Meghan Joyce was so energizing! Meghan is the CEO of Duckbill and mom of 3! This conversation was fascination to hear how a high-octane CEO makes her days work without waking up at 4am and still prioritizes the time with her kids. A huge thanks to Meghan for being a guest on the podcast! And I’m bringing you this episode in collaboration with Mighty As A Mother, hosted by the fabulous Jenn and Laura, and you can listen to their episode with Meghan here! I loved their conversation and know you will too!
One Year Ago - A Day In Her Life with Catherine Brown! I love that Catherine’s 1yr anniversary is this week, which is also the week she debuted on Substack. Catherine is a working mom in tech who’s constantly supporting other moms doing the juggle, and sharing tips and insights along the way! This year, Catherine is doing a low spend year, and if you subscribe to her Instagram, you can follow along. I’ve found it really helpful to see daily reminders, along with all of her other content!
If you love romance novels, follow something new I’m working on with my friend Anna over on @pepper_books! We’re looking for feedback on our MVP, so would love if you’d take a second to complete this quick survey!

I haven’t used Frownies in ages but I need to try again! My esthetician friend in Nashville is teaching a face taping class and I may look into doing that in place of Botox.
