This week was tough. Really tough. We’ve spent a lot of days home with one or both kids, while trying to balance our work. As such, the things bringing me the most joy, are also the things occupying my kids with little intervention or helping me get through this week. Not pictured, the support from my husband and his attempt at balancing the onus of childcare evenly, the moments of joy from my kids making me laugh or watching them learn new things, and all of the “mommy hugs”.
Five Friday Favorites:
Here are some little things that are making A Day In My Life a little more peaceful this week:
Timio - This toy occupied my daughter for more than an hour by herself, and for that, I would pay twice as much. We’ve had it since my son was ~2, and it’s an interactive screenless toy, and it’s so great. It looks like you can still get it before Christmas for the toddler in your life.
BluTrack - This super simple toy was a suggestion from @mommasgonecity and it has been a huge hit with my son. There are so many different ways to use this and his imagination has really gone wild. Our 2yo even plays with it, and I love seeing them play together.
Christmas Cookies - I love love love making Christmas Cookies with my kids, and we made these this year based on a recommendation from a friend. Rolling out the dough before chilling is DEFINITELY the key!
Sticker Ornaments - These were a recommendation from
and they delivered. My son spend ~1hr making some of these and we had a lot of fun together deciding what looked best on our goofy ornaments.Peloton Yoga - As mentioned, this week was really tough, and after crying on the phone with my pediatrician’s office, I got a text from a friend telling me to do some yoga. And wow if I didn’t need that reminder. I did a quick 20min restorative yoga with Anna Greenberg, and it was just the reset I needed. I need to do it more often, especially when I get the flight or fight response.
What’s for Dinner
The priority this week was whatever was easiest, and there were a few pivots.
Sunday - Smash Burgers - My son loves burgers and has been begging for them recently. I love this recipe.
Monday - Bolognese from Pammy’s - Pammy’s is our favorite restaurant in the Boston/Cambridge area. We love to go for a special dinner, and we just learned they were selling their jarred bolognese. If you’re local, go at 4:30 Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. You won’t regret it.
Tuesday - Dumpling Daughter. Always.
Wednesday - Ordered in Pizza - If you’re in Milton, Stevie’s has THE BEST chicken strips. I could skip the pizza and just order these strips. They’re so good.
More A Day In Her Life:
ICYMI Hattie Sparks Collins was on this week’s episode. I absolutely loved hearing her thoughts on boundaries and her own personal balance. Definitely don’t miss this one!
I had the pleasure of running into both Meg Nugent from Episode 12 and Tracy Skelly from Episode 33 on Saturday. It was so great to see some great guests in person! Loved it!
