Five Friday Faves - 12.19
This week has been hard - a place I love has been violated. My heart is broken for Brown. Students should be studying, waiting for the naked donut run in the sci li and celebrating with shitty beer when it’s over (do kids still do that?).
In addition to the heaviness locally and around the world, this has been a sprint to the holiday. It’s been surprisingly busy and feeling a bit frenetic. There have been a few glimmers though this week, and I’m trying to lean into time with my family, wrap up work, and get ready for the holiday!
This weekend, we watched Home Alone with my son for the first time. Watching him cackle was so fun. My kids haven’t really gotten into movies, but we’re working on them.
I got convinced to try Cann during their Black Friday sale and strong recommendations from friends, and I have been loving them. I have the Spritz and the Roadies, the flavors are great and it doesn’t taste funky at all. The Cranberry Sage is my favorite so far!
One of my favorite things we’ve done for the past few years is go to our friend’s house for a little Hanukkah celebration. My son asks about it starting in October, and was so excited! I made these Christmas cookies to bring over, and added some Hanukkah cookies too!
Last week, my son called me a grinch because we don’t do blow up Christmas decorations, and I was feeling a bit grinchy without anything very festive to wear. I saw these cute sweaters from Old Navy and immediately purchased. Zero regrets. They’re really comfortable, and make me smile when wearing them.
This might sound like an old lady thing, but a coworker got me a pair of fluffy grippy socks, and I’m honestly I love them. I have slipped on the runner on our stairs a few times, and these are like wearing slippers without slippers.
You know I love a hockey romance, and I am officially obsessed with Heated Rivalry. It’s so so so well done. I’m loving it and cannot wait until Friday for new episodes. Since I started the show, I’ve read both Heated Rivalry and Game Changer, and I’m nearly through The Long Game - the sequel to Heated Rivalry. Highly recommend.
What’s for Dinner?
Sunday - Boeuf Bourguignon from Ina Garten
Monday - Dinner out with a friend
Tuesday - Hanukkah with friends
Wednesday - Lasagna from Feast and Fettle
Thursday - Salmon from Feast and Fettle
We tried Feast and Fettle for the last two weeks thanks to Kyla Hanaway-Quinlan, this week’s guest. My husband and I were both extremely impressed by the quality and taste of the meals, there was plenty of food, and I definitely think we will order again in the future.
More A Day In Her Life:
This week - I loved chatting with Kyla Hanaway-Quinlan, the COO of Feast & Fettle and mom of two who splits her time between DC and Rhode Island. Her unique structure was such an interesting chat!
