Five Friday Faves - 11.17
a few things that are making A Day In My Life a bit brighter (under the eye)
Five Friday Favorites:
Here are some little things that are making A Day In My Life a little less dark at 4:30pm this week:
Replenix Eye Cream - This eye cream has been hailed by many (including previous guest
in this post for ) as a great option to make you look rested without any makeup. It is truly SO good. It’s tinted, and can hide those bags after a night with a few kid wakeups (which have been abundant this week). The metal applicator feels luxurious upon application, which I love.GiftHero - We are lucky to have a lot of family asking what to get for the kids for Christmas, and I found myself consistently overwhelmed by trying to keep track of separate lists for everyone. Enter GiftHero. It’s a website on which you can create gift registries/wishlists, and when a gifter purchases something, it shows as purchased so no one else will purchase as well. It makes a season that I find pretty stressful, much less so.
My New Ride - My son has been biking since this spring, and the faster he gets, the harder it is to catch up with him, and the more frustrated he gets when I keep asking him to stop. After a weekend when I took him and my daughter to the bike path and he left us in the dust, I decided to get myself a bike with a trailer for my daughter. My priorities were cost and look and this one fit the bill. I cannot wait for some long bike rides together!
Friendsgivings - I love Thanksgiving with my family, but there is something so heartwarming about a Friendsgiving. This year we have one with longtime friends who’ve become family and one with newer friends we’ve gotten to know through a local mom’s group. It’s so fun to see our kids playing with others and how our group grows each year. It’s also nice to try different recipes - our family recipes are great, but sometimes it’s nice to switch it up.
Outfoxed - Some days after school my older one comes in HOT, and the other night was an example of that. My husband and I suggested a game of Outfoxed, and the three of us had so much fun finding the thief together. It’s a collaborative game, which are my favorites with my son at this age.
What’s for Dinner
We are experimenting with some more vegetarian meals in our house this week, and still leaning into some cheaper pantry/freezer meals. I love trying new recipes though sometimes find myself in a pickle when the time estimates are wrong - which happened this week and my husband ended up learning how to finish a risotto himself.
Sunday - Friendsgiving - I made the Brown Butter Rice Krispy Treats from the Flour Bakery Cookbook, and a Kale and Brussel Sprout Salad.
Monday - Brats and Tots
Tuesday - Carrot Risotto - this is REALLY good and fairly easy. The timing is off, so unless you’re a wizard at peeling and slicing carrots, expect this to take a bit longer than the recipe says. My kids really liked it!
Wednesday - Take out Indian Food - We had a crazy end of day on Wednesday and plans to cook got smooshed. My brother-in-law was in town for the night so I told my husband to figure dinner out, and he did.
Thursday - Baked Potatoes - We do the Alison Roman recipe and I like to top mine with Bacon, Broccoli, Sour Cream, and Scallions
Friday - Honeynut Squash and Chickpeas
Saturday - Another Friendsgiving - I am making this Cranberry Sauce and something else TBD.
More A Day In Her Life:

A few past guests have been sharing some great gift guides!
’s are for the friends we all have, and you won’t see a Stanley on her list. I loved ’s list, and the Pinhole Press book for kids is one I make for mine each year! Julia also shared a ton of gift ideas this week! You can find Christina’s, Jessica’s, and Julia’s episodes linked!
Might need to add Outfoxed to our fam repertoire!
