Five Friday Favorites:
Here are some little things that are making A Day In My Life a little brighter this week:
Normalizing a Stitch and Bitch - I talked a bit about loneliness in last weeks newsletter (you can read it here) and one thing I have been trying to do is reach out to friends more, and something fun to do together is knit/stitch. Last week, a friend and I met up for dinner and then we knit and chat. It was so much fun, and really filled my cup. So if you are a crafter, let this be a nudge to schedule time to craft together with your friends, you can learn from each other and it’s fun either way. Everyone loves a stitch and bitch.
Five Year Journal - Jamie O’Day co-founder of NAPS recommended this to me during my mom’s support group training, and it’s been such a great practice. Each page is for one day and has five spaces to write thoughts for that day throughout 5 years. I tend to write what happened that day, how I felt, or something I am grateful for. Now that I am on the second year of this, it’s so fun each day to see what happened a year ago as I write.
Dumpling Daughter - I have talked about Dumpling Daughter in my Food Mini-Episode, and they’re always in my What’s for Dinner, but they are just so good. My son and daughter love them, and their Sweet and Spicy Dumpling Sauce is truly the star. Having something in my freezer that tastes better than takeout is so awesome.
Emily Van Hoff - The algorithm of Instagram fed me one of Emily’s reels and I immediately subscribed to her mailing list so I can know when they’re released. Her textile art is so beautiful and happy.
Lego Duplo - My youngest has just started getting into building with Lego, and her joy in building a tower and running to me yelling “look, mama” is pure happiness. I spent a lot of time this week sitting in our playroom watching her little dimpled hands build Legos.
What’s for Dinner
This week was a lot of repeats - I have been trying to dig deep in my freezer to save on the weekly grocery bill. My husband was out of town this weekend, so I did an Instacart order. I usually trust no one, and was validated in that when the strawberries were delivered covered in mold.
Sunday - Make Your Own Pizza - My son’s favorite
Monday - Leftover Pizza and Salad
Tuesday - Brats, Tots, and Broccoli - I buy the large bags of frozen Broccoli at Costco, and it’s so nice to have on hand to just throw in the steamer and have good veggies with dinner.
Wednesday - Dumpling Daughter Dumplings and Bao
Thursday - Ground Pork with Krapow Omsom Sauce - these are a great option to have on hand to mix with either veggies or protein from the freezer. The Krapow sauce is so spicy, so be warned.
Friday - Salmon with Yuzu Miso Omsom Sauce with Rice - On repeat this week :) I buy the salmon from Whole Foods in frozen filets to have it on hand for an easy quick dinner

Could easily drink that dumpling daughter sauce.
