It’s been almost a year since I started 5 Friday Faves. Honestly, I don’t know how time flew by so fast! But after 52 weeks of sharing my favorite things, I’m still having fun, and that’s the barometer I use for both this series and the podcast. So, I guess we’ll keep going!
I mentioned this on the podcast this week, but we’ve recently hit two major milestones (or at least they feel big to me!). So I will share with you because, as Abby pointed out in her episode, sometimes we need to be our own hype people!
The podcast hit 1,000 subscribers! This means 1,000 people between Apple Podcasts and Spotify are subscribed to get new episodes on their phones each week! Growth has been slow but steady, and this felt like a significant milestone.
We hit 100 reviews on Apple Podcasts and Spotify! THANK YOU to everyone who has left a review! If you keep leaving them, I’ll enter you in a merch giveaway I’m working on!
All that to say: thank you for being here. I appreciate you, and you’re awesome!
This week’s faves are random, but have been taking up space in my mind!
Mrs. Wordsmith The Book of Big Feelings - We had a great family day on Saturday exploring the Seaport in Boston and stumbled upon The Current stores, where we discovered Mrs. Wordsmith. I wasn’t familiar with the brand, but they’re a British-based educational company. The saleswoman sold us on their Emotions flipbook, and now my kids are obsessed. There are 120 different feelings, and we switch it up every day. Each page describes a feeling and provides prompts to discuss it, which has made for fun breakfast conversations! My son loves talking about feelings (he’s still obsessed with The Noise Inside Boys), and he enjoys trying to guess the feeling of the day.
MyFitnessPal - This fall, I’m focusing on feeling better in my skin, eating more protein, and staying active. I’ve been loving the MyFitnessPal app for tracking all of this. I use the free version, but it still lets me add my own recipes and sync my movement with my Apple Watch, which makes tracking super easy.
Boston Globe Word Games - My family is full of word game nerds. I vividly remember my parents doing the NYT crossword in pen on a folded newspaper every morning. That eventually turned into printing “the puzz” daily/the night before and now, everyone does their crosswords on their phones/iPads. We’re big fans of Spelling Bee and Wordle, and my kids often ask my parents, “Have you gotten to Genius yet?” because that’s a frequent joke around here. Recently, my husband introduced me to the Boston Globe Word Games (free with the app), and they’re fantastic! I especially love WordroW—it’s like a supersized Wordle, but way harder.
Lake Holiday PJs - I’ve talked about my undying love for Lake jams before, but they really are all I wear. They just released their holiday patterns, and I think we’re going with the red stripe this year. Since the kids are getting matching PJs, we probably need them too. I was thrilled to see they’ve started offering Tall Men’s Pants—finding clothes that fit my 6’6” husband isn’t always easy!
Shit That I Knit - I’ve been a huge fan of Shit That I Knit for as long as I can remember, and this is their final season! While I’m thrilled for the team’s success in selling the brand, it’s bittersweet. I own their hats, sweaters, and more, and the quality is unmatched. I know they’ll continue under the Lele Sadoughi brand, but I’ll miss them!

What’s for Dinner
Sunday - Chili! This is our go-to recipe! I love Chili Season!
Monday - Enchilada Rice Skillet from What to Cook When Do You Don’t Feel Like Cooking - We decided to start something new and I really enjoyed the ease of this recipe. My kids really liked it too.
Tuesday - Mexican Chicken and Rice from Defined Dish - My son truly loves this so much, and his joy eating it and telling me it’s “outrageous” means I will make it often.
Wednesday - Poblano Fajitas from What to Cook When Do You Don’t Feel Like Cooking - These were super easy and very delicious. My kids love a taco and liked this a lot.
Thursday - In NYC!
More A Day In Her Life:
ICYMI - This week’s episode with Kelly Hubbell was a great conversation about Kelly’s days and how her experience hiring a home manager lead her to founding Sage Haus! As busy mom of three, Kelly has so many great systems and tips and I loved our conversation!
One Year Ago - A Day In Her Life with Nan Philip! Nan owns her own Public Relations Consultancy and is also one of my favorite influencers! I loved hearing about Nan’s days in New York after her recent move, her beauty favorites, and how she makes time for her friends!
is such a gem, and if you haven’t yet followed her Substack , you absolutely should!I had a personal goal of getting 100 Podcast Reviews by the end of the year! AND I clearly should have made that goal higher because WE DID IT!!! We have 68 Apple Podcasts and 32 Spotify Reviews! THANK YOU to everyone who’s left a review! I am ordering some podcast merch and will be giving away to 5 people who’ve left narrative reviews! If we get to 125, I will double that!!! Can we do it?!
If you are local to the Boston/Milton area, I am hosting a mom’s group for moms on Maternity Leave starting on October 15. I am a NAPS-Certified Moms Support Group Leader and love supporting moms in the community. This group runs for 6 sessions and you can find out more here!
