Five Friday Faves - 10.31
funks and minis.
Happy Halloween, witches. I’m feeling a bit grinch-like, but I’ve not really been into halloween since I was in college (and I was VERY into it then) but I love the excitement my kids have! I’ve ordered them the small size of the Boat and Totes for little trick or treat baskets, and I’m obsessed. So cute.
This week has been a bit of a funk - some big things going on in the world that are scary and sad (Hurricane Melissa and SNAP Benefits ending) and I had a big and very busy work trip that had been a ton of stress leading up to it.
I’ve been feeling helpless about the devastation in Jamaica, a place we love so much, and donated to the Hanover Charities that supports the area we visit. Locally, am going to buy some food to donate to a local food shelter this weekend and get some formula to donate as well. If you’re looking to combat food insecurity near you, this is a great resource.
This week’s cross-country tip was a quick one, Monday - Thursday, but it was incredibly busy. I was helping a partner go-live and for my team that means providing support from 6a-10a and 6p-10p for two days. In addition to those times, there’s also all of the other work that gets filled in the middle there. With a 3hr time zone swap, this weeks ~12-14 hour days left little time for much besides a quick workout and a few minutes of reading before crashing. So grateful to be in my own bed tonight.
As I’ve been traveling more recently, I have bulked up my “mini” cosmetics to make it easier to pack and not worry about having too many liquids etc. These are a nice little luxury that make me happy when I travel, but definitely not a necessity. I’ve also found these minis a great way to try new products.
I love that there are minis of my favorite leave in conditioner and air dry mousse. For a blowout on the road, I bring this for root volume, this for overall volume, this to reduce frizz, and this dry shampoo to make it last. I also got this small hairbrush to take up less space in my bag. I tend to put my favorite goop shampoo in a little contain for travel.
I just got this face wash and like how it foams, this scrub, and a little make up remover. I love the Merit Great Skin Set (oil and lotion) and was delighted when I saw them at Sephora. I also bring my regular face stuff, so that’s really all I need to add into the bag. Mini is also a good way to try new products, so I gave this Tower 28 mascara a try.
Sephora and Target have great travel sized collections. CVS also has a surprisingly good selection at some locations.
What’s for Dinner?
Out of Town this week - but if you’re ever in Fresno CA, this restaurant is incredible!
