Five Friday Faves
monthly (bi-weekly, weekly, who knows) things that are making A Day In My Life a bit better
A few thoughts have been on my heart this week. Feel free to skip if you’re not in the space to read.
This week has been hard. Really hard. I have been distracted and feeling so heavy about the terror and devastation going on in Israel. My heart breaks, and at the same time, I feel such intense gratitude for the safety of my family. What
said in her newsletter today really resonated with me, timed with a conversation with a colleague, both of which compelled me to say a bit. Things feel really gray, there are centuries of history that I admittedly am somewhat ignorant of, but what is going on right now, and the devastation and terror is unacceptable. My heart breaks for the loss in Israel, and the trauma unfolding. Hug your people, give those around you grace, and spread the kindness you need right now. This series was brought to you by a shower idea I had today (the best ideas come in the shower), and I wanted to share a few things that have been really sparking joy recently, as we can all use a bit of that.
G.Tox Himalayan Salt Scalp Scrub Shampoo - Goop Beauty - I think TIBAL has posted about this in the past, but MAN is this good. I use it 1-2x per week depending on the number of times I wash my hair, and it is so clarifying. I love how clean it makes my hair feel.
Knitting New Hats - The weather drops under 50 once, and I am immediately knitting again. I whipped up these two hats for my kids in the past two weeks after my son saw the yarn and begged me to make him one. I love how they came out, and they look so so cute. The yarn is Lovebird from Purl Soho and I used these two patterns - Inside Out Hat and Cozy Ear Flap Hat.
Happiness Falls by Angie Kim - I absolutely devoured this book. Angie Kim’s first book Miracle Creek was one of my favorites in 2020, and this was no disappointment. The main character was so interesting, and the mystery was really compelling. I couldn’t stop thinking about it once I finished, which is a sign of a very good read for me. There are footnotes in the book, and I actually found them well done on Audio, so don’t be deterred.
Free Assembly Ringer T-Shirt - TIBAL definitely recommended these, and I am constantly searching on Walmart to see what colors are in stock. They go with everything, spandex shorts, jeans, sweats. Size up for a boxier fit.
Love Is Blind - This season has been the worst IMHO, but I am still dying to know who is going to get past the alter. The finale was released today, and I started watching it before the kids were up, not going to lie.
