December Calendar Review
What I did, read, bought, podcasted, and wore in December
In 32 days, we have Christmas, New Years, and both of my kid’s birthdays. As such, December always feels frenetic. Some years I plan ahead better, and get my christmas lists done before Thanksgiving, and some years, I’m scrambling. This was a scrambling year - especially because Thanksgiving was so late. It also wasn’t helped by the fact that I had two work trips in the first two weeks of December, but in all, it was a great month.
I had a work trip to Pittsburgh that filled my cup work-wise, then my son’s birthday. Planning a birthday party the day after returning from a work trip would not be my recommendation, but I survived. Another trip to Chicago, and then home to hunker down for the holiday. I spent a lot of 1:1 time with my son this month, we did a pottery class and we took him to his first Celtics game - 7 feels really old, and I love his enthusiasm for doing things together. We also celebrated a night of Hanukkah with friends, a tradition my son looks forward to all year, and I hosted my annual cookie party, an event that always makes me feel grateful to be surrounded by so many fantastic women.
We introduced the elf this year, and despite my years of resistance, it was actually very fun. The kids loved it, and I just want the magic to continue to grow. Christmas was as magical as always, and we even got some snow afterwards.
But this month wasn’t without some tough moments - with travel, work, the shooting at Brown, general holiday overwhelm, trying to make things special - I cried a bit more than usual. I’m lucky to have a partner who could step in when I needed, wrap things, give some hugs, and generally talk me off some ledges.
I hope you all had a great New Year - I’m prepping a 2025 recap, and I’m excited for what 2026 has in store!

What I Read?
More work travel this month meant more reading, and there were some good ones on here.
Favorites:
Chestnut Springs - Reckless and Hopeless - I finally rounded out the Chestnut Springs series, and I loved them. If you’re looking for some good western romances, do not skip these.
Hate Me Like You Mean It - Kyra Parsi LOVES a bossy man dynamic, and this second chance romance was too good. I stayed up past midnight reading this one night.
Game Changer Series - Um, have you been watching Heated Rivalry, because I have, and I’m obsessed. After episode 3, I read Heated Rivalry, then The Long Game, then I went back and read Game Changer and Role Model. These books are so great.
Holiday Reads - Winter Wishlist was wildly unhinged (a why choose MMF) and Dashing All The Way was a spicy holiday romance. Good Spirits took me a while to get into, and I didn’t particularly love it.
What I Bought?
I wanted something a little holiday because I was feeling a tad bland, and this Old Navy sweater fit the bill.
Otherwise I didn’t do a ton of shopping this month. More a lot of panicking that I didn’t have enough Christmas gifts. Reader - we still over did it.
What I wore?

The Old Navy Holiday Sweater got a lot of play, and clearly I was in bright moods. Otherwise I mostly bought Christmas gifts for the kiddos.
Who did we chat with?
A short month before the holiday break, but be sure to check out our Episode Index! I spent time going through and tagging all episodes and organizing the episodes.

Love this review! (am inspired to start something similar!) Kids' birthdays next to each other + the holidays are no joke. In a span of 25 days in Jan/early Feb I have both of my kids birthdays + mine. It's so hard to keep the energy up (for me) following the holidays.
