I love reading gift guides, I find them so helpful for looking for gifts and also forming my own Christmas lists! That said, I have to admit, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by them this year. It’s a little ironic since I’m still sharing my own guides, but I get it—gift guides are everywhere because they’re effective. Many of them include affiliate links, which generate commissions, and the holidays are a prime time for that.
I don’t have any sponsors at this time (if you’re interested let’s chat) but affiliate links generate a small amount of revenue that supports the cost of the podcast. So if you’re using links within to purchase items, I receive a small commission for some of the purchases. I am planning a full “Podcast Economics” episode or post on Substack with specific numbers and revenue sources, so if you have any questions, I’d love for you to send them my way!
On to the guides!
Below are some very specific gift guides I’ve pulled together based on items I own, plan on buying, or will buy. Nothing is on here because of high commissions or anything else, they’re all something I love or really truly want - and maybe Santa will listen.
Part 2 in this series will be a gift guide exclusively of gifts from past guests! Look out for that in Friday Faves!
Gifts for someone who will usually buy what they want but want to feel treated sometimes! (basically my wishlist)
Lake Pajamas - I always put these on my Christmas List. They’re the only PJs I wear (and I am wearing them as I finish this). They’re so comfortable. My favorites are these sets for the summer and these for the winter. Lake is having a big sale from today until 12/2 with 25% to up to 50% off.
Cuyana Pouch - I adore Cuyana, and I feel like this clutch is so versatile and will be something I use often either in a bag or as a clutch. I also have my eye on this bag. I love its structure and I really want this bag for work/travel.
Away Suitcase - The last thing I need is another suitcase, but I’m obsessed with the limited edition glitter suitcase. If you’re buying for someone who needs new luggage, we’re obsessed with our Away stuff. This duffle bag always goes with us, and the larger checked bag is perfect. Away is having a 25% off sale - so if you’re looking for luggage, now’s your chance.
Margaux Ballet Flats - These are VERY high on my own list. Love the look of these classic ballet flats and I’ve also been eying these Mary Janes. Hopefully, Santa brings me a pair 😉
Chord Hat - Do you NEED a luxury suede baseball cap? Probably not. Will you wear it all the time? Yes. I have the Black Nylon Chord Cap and I LOVE IT. I wear it way more than I wear any other baseball hats I have. It fits perfectly, and I just love it and really want this beautiful suede one.
Kindle Cover - I love a good cheeky gift, and this one is on my list this year. How cute are these covers! As a SMUT reader, the cheeky ones slap.
Gifts for the Man in Your Life
Faherty Sweater Shirt - My husband discovered this brand this year, and even I was impressed. He is 6’6” and he’s been able to find all items in his size, which is really awesome. This warm button-down is a great gift option for a special someone.
Criquet Shacket - My husband just got one of these, and he’s worn it daily since. It’s the perfect light layer to stay warm when the weather is between seasons. I am planning to get one of these for my dad who is always cold.
Thermapen - I know there are a lot of special thermometers for grilling etc, but I haven’t found one that beats this. It’s precise and incredibly quick, and my husband uses this all the time.
Courant Charger - If your person has lots of devices, this is a great one to keep by the bedside. I use mine every night to hold my phone which is a monitor for my kids, and charge my airpods too.
Lake Pajamas - I rave about these for myself, but now that they have these in Tall for men, they are a perfect gift my husband! My tall husband loves these!
Blundstone Boots - I love mine! They’re such versatile and comfortable boots, and my husband has them on his list. These would make a great gift!
Gifts for a 5-6yo Boy
Legos - Duh. I adore doing Legos with my son and watching him build new and creative things for himself. This set is one I am excited to do with him.
Yoto Mini Player and Cards - We got this for my son last year and he still loves it. We have the Tonie Box too, but we love this one for travel. The ability to load podcasts onto this is clutch, and my son loves the Sheriff Labrador and Kids Short Stories podcast. I am planning to get him some of the Harry Potter Cards for Christmas. But only let him listen to the books we’ve finished reading together.
Mina Lima Harry Potter Books - Clearly a bit of a theme here, but we will be rounding out the collection of these books for Christmas. They’re so beautiful and fun to read.
Games - This one comes very highly recommended and is going into the stocking this year! I am also putting this one on the list. We love backgammon in our family and I got this for my son because Christina raves about the Chess one for her family.
Tracing and Draw Projector - My son got this for Christmas last year and it’s still a regular appearance in our play time. There are extra circles you can get for more drawing options, but my son loves this.
Gifts for a 2-3yo Girl
Dress Up - This company has the cutest little kids play things and I put some shoes and jewelry on my daughter’s list. I also love these dress-up kits, they sell them at our local children’s shop - the quality is great, and this one is so cute!
Tonie Box - I’ve talked about this with guests on the podcast, but these are SO great. My son listens to his Tonie Box every night as he falls asleep, and my daughter is really getting into hers now, at just nearly three. Some of our favorite Tonies are creative tonies (you can add your own content - like grandparents reading to kids etc), Blaze, Superwings, and Daniel.
Bitty Baby - Both of my kids now have one of these and they play so well with them together playing “family”. I love that we can continue to get her more things for her baby, such as this bassinet.
Bag - If your 3yo loves to dress up, this bag is so cute! My daughter absolutely loves accessories, and the cuter the better!
Play Kitchen - We got my son his play kitchen for his 3rd Christmas, and he loved it! My daughter and son continue to play with it regularly and it’s held up really well. This year, we’re going to add on some fun new food for the kitchen! She played with this at a friend’s and loved it.
Gifts that your kids can play with together
Superspace - We have these and LOVE these so much. The kids play with them all the time and create rocketships, cars, and houses and play together in them for hours. They are a rainy-day savior.
Hubelino - These are on our list for this year, and they can use the Duplos which we have 1 million of. I think the kids are going love these so much because they love building big things with legos and right now they also love a marble run, so combining the two feels like a hit.
Kid Kraft Doll House - We got this for the kids this year, and I can’t wait to see their reaction. They’re going to love it! We chose this one specifically because they can play with it from all angles. Sometimes my kids fight when they’re on top of each other, and while I was apprehensive of the size, I think it’s the right move for us right now.
Bankers Box Playspaces - My kids love these. We keep them around for a while and then switch them out after a few months. These are so great for imaginative play.
Magnatiles - These are a perennial favorite, and one of those gifts where more is actually more. We have a lot of Magnatiles, and there are so many cool new sets that have fun-shaped magnets. My daughter loves this castle one and this rocket shape one is on my son’s list.
